Squad Contenders Discus Double!

At the 2007 Scottish Schools Championships two of our squad contenders hit GOLD.  Competing in the Group C age group, both Sam O'Kane and Kerri Cameron beat all the other top throwers in Scotland to be crowned Champion.

Currently ranking as Scotland's No 1 U15 discus thrower, Sam finished with a PB of 36.85m.  During his 6 throw series he threw 2 PB's adding over one and a half meters to his previous best.  Sam, who competed for Thurso High School, has also raised his UK ranking now being placed inside the UK U15 Top 10.  His performance has also gained him selection for the Scottish Power Scottish Schools U15 Inter Area match which is to be held in Grangemouth on the 20th June.

Kerri Cameron who competed for Nairn Academy, was crowned Discus Champion with a throw of 22.53m not far short of her PB.  As Scotland's current Top U15 discus thrower Kerri also competed in the Shot throwing 8.05m to finish 7th.

Another squad athlete throwing in the circle was Maurice Williamson who competed for Anderson High School in the Group B boys hammer.  Maurice threw a fantastic PB to finish 6th, beating his previous best by almost 2 and a half meters! His new best distance of 40.61m currently ranks him in 6th place in Scotland and just outside the UK TOP 40!
